Dr.Kurunji Venkatramana Gowda, a pioneer in the field of Education for the Rural Part of Malnad, was the one who carved Sullia to an Education Hub .
He was born on 26 December 1928 and its unimaginable feat he achieved for the upliftment of society. He was keen in providing quality education to the people of Rural India. He initiated educational institutions one by one starting from Nehru Memorial College in the year 1976. Then he built an empire of educational institutions one after another. From primary education to professional colleges Ayurveda Medical College, Medical College, Dental College, Engineering college, Law college and other technical institutions are providing education to over 16,000 students from various parts of the world.
He has provided job opportunities to many people in various institutions under the Academy of Liberal Education (R). He left for Heavenly abode on 07/08/2013 leaving behind all he has achieved with glory.
Today in his memory all the staff of campus gathered at KVG Circle at the campus and honoured with floral tribute.
